About My Clients

Does it feel as though you're going through life without a sense of equilibrium? Do seemingly routine tasks fill you with dread and anxiety? Are you filled with a sense of hopelessness, that things will never get better, and do you feel guilty for even thinking this way? These are patterns that I am very familiar with, and I want to help you to uncover the root causes of them, as well as give you tools that will help you build healthier habits.

My Background and Approach

We often have a narrative we tell ourselves that we think covers the full story of our lives, and determines our future. Does this sound familiar? I find that by simply listening actively to clients and pointing out when their story sounds incomplete or unfair, we can work towards creating a new story that includes more hope and self-care. My approach to therapy is highly collaborative, and I feel that building a strong therapeutic relationship is fundamental in providing relief to what troubles you. I want to hear anything and everything about you, no matter how random or irrelevant it may seem to be at first; often there's great insight in what comes from the unconscious mind, and therapy is a safe space for it to come to the fore. I do love to talk and listen to people talk, but this isn't always the best or fastest way to get to the root of the issue. As a certified music therapist, I can also guide us into creative approaches to the issues at hand.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe in the unique power of the arts to express the individual and universal human experience. I continue to spend my free time as a composer and musical performer, and feel that this experience helps keep me in touch with my own mental process, as well as creating a sense of understanding with my creative clients. I am currently pursuing a post-graduate training in Analytic Music Therapy, which goes deeper into psychodynamic topics and how to explore them musically. As an aside, I have contributed music and volunteered for political campaigns that align with my values: workers' rights, climate justice, reproductive rights, and representation for oppressed communities.
