You have worked hard to create a fulfilling life, yet underneath it all, you feel plagued by worry, self-doubt, and disappointment that it all hasn't healed the hurt. You wish you had one of those supportive moms, but yours just adds to the stress. You don't want to pass this trauma along to your children, so you are doing everything you can to heal. You want a holistic, trauma-informed approach from a compassionate, laid-back therapist you can really talk to.
My Background and Approach
I'm a somatic healer focused on collaborating with my clients with an approach that is non-pathologizing. I bring strategies and processes that go deeper than talk therapy to heal the root wounds that sustain our suffering and allow us to transform into a place of confidence and peace. We are not just our thoughts, but our emotions and our bodies, too. In fact, it is the feelings and beliefs that live within our bodies that so powerfully drive our experiences of who we are and how we live our lives. While talking and insight are an important part of the therapy process, the true healing comes when we bring our bodies (nervous systems) along for the healing journey. To do this, I use techniques of mindfulness, parts-work, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and the Safe and Sound Protocol to engage the mind-body's organic healing processes. My style is laid back (we will laugh together!), down to earth (yes, you can swear in session), and I will be real with you. :-)
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in the inherent value of each person. I recognize that we are entrenched in social systems of power and oppression that impact all aspects of our experience. I recognize and seek to always learn more about the intersections of privilege and oppression that I experience as a white woman. I value respectful parenting, sex-positive relationships (kink/bdsm-friendly), gender and sexual diversity, body-positivity/weight neutrality (bariatric-friendly), and feminist perspectives led by BIPOC women+. I was raised in a Christian environment and am currently non-practicing. Welcoming to religious deconstructing individuals.
