Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in Portland, OR

About My Clients

I am open to working with anyone who wants to explore their inner world and deepen their sense of self knowledge through connection and mutual dialogue! My typical clients may face depression, anxiety, self doubt/self esteem issues, relational conflicts, childhood wounding, existential angst, questions about identity, struggles with belonging/a sense of isolation, adjustment difficulties, trauma history, or a desire to understand neurodiversity/unique sensitivities.

My Background and Approach

My undergraduate background is in Sociology and Anthropology, which provides a foundational interest in understanding human behavior from the individual level all the way to broader systems and cultures. I graduated from Lewis & Clark College’s Marriage Couple and Family Therapy program with a specialization in Sex Therapy in 2017. After graduation I provided therapy for low-income clients and international refugees through Lutheran Community Services Northwest. From 2019-2023 I lived abroad in rural Yamanashi, Japan, where I offered telehealth counseling services to English speakers living in Japan. Throughout my postgraduate work I have developed a focus on working with clients with a diverse range of cultural and language backgrounds facing all manner of life's challenges. I work from a theoretical orientation that places the client as expert of their own experiences and honors the sacredness of being a part of their healing journey.

My Values as a Therapist

As an existential-humanistic therapist, I believe in the innate ability of all humans to grow and heal. I aim to create a collaborative and safe counseling relationship where I can facilitate you in deepening self-knowledge, identifying disowned parts of your identity, expressing your authentic wants/needs, taking agency over your life and choices, exploring the origins of unhelpful patterns and tending to unhealed wounds, learning new skills to communicate and connect with others, and grappling with meaning of life and a sense of spiritual awe. I am not the expert on your experiences- you are- and we will engage in mutual dialogue as two humans relating together.
