I am a cancer survivor and know first-hand the entire cancer process. I have also lost family members due to cancer. There is such a range of feelings and emotions from the onset, medical procedures, diagnosis, treatment, recovery, re-assimilation as a survivor, and recurrence anxiety! It helps to have someone who has been through the journey and a place to process and gain a better view of things. My counseling practice is here to support you if you are a patient or family member.

Daily life in modern day society (and corporate America) can be grueling. There is so much pressure and responsibility it is easy to feel overwhelmed and burned out. My counseling practice is here to help you gain meaning and purpose, regulate emotions by practicing your own presence, and establish new healthy perspectives on your life.

Anxiety has a role to play in our lives, but it is often (and unnecessarily) in overdrive. We do not need to live with anxiety running and controlling our lives. My therapeutic trainings are used to assist in helping my clients build inner-strength and establish the internal skills necessary to regulate our inner-states and develop a healthy relationship with our anxiety, inner critic, and monkey mind.

IFS is a parts-based therapeutic modality that allows us to establish a life of inner balance and harmony through abiding in Self-energy. This type of parts work is scalable and can be used to treat many different issues. It allows us to develop a self-compassionate and loving relationship with ourselves and others. Inner-child healing and working through difficult emotions is part of IFS work.

Mindfulness is the most critical practice of wellness. It is the first step in so many different therapeutic orientations. We have to be able to see ourselves, to step back, to gain insight, and to establish our own presence. Our thoughts, behaviors, and feelings can only be changed and worked through only by shining the light of mindful awareness. Learning to the quiet the mind is the key. This is the beginning of taking our life back and feeling better.

I first began my counseling journey through a pastoral counseling class using Rogerian-based person-centered therapy and it changed my life. In my practice and in my personal life the time-tested ideas that above all else we need an interested, curious, compassionate, and nonjudgmental person to help us help ourselves. This approach is humanistic and believes that people, when given the right environment (loving and accepting), innately grow and thrive in an organic manner.

It can really help to have someone help you walk through this whole process. My goal is help you transform your diagnosis and cope with whatever happens.
