About My Clients

My unique background and training allow me to serve survivors of complex trauma and dissociative responses to find hope and healing. I have also had the honor of working with people with mood, anxiety, and other trauma related disorders to find peace. I firmly believe that healing is a personal journey that cannot be manualized, and I tailor my approach to meet your specific needs. I understand that healing takes courage and the support of a safe, healthy community.

My Background and Approach

I am a human first and a therapist second, and I adopt a person-centered, humanistic approach to therapy. My therapeutic philosophy is grounded in relational and phenomenological theories, which emphasizes the healing relationship and that you are the expert of your own experiences. My role is to support and guide you on your path to self-discovery, self-compassion, awareness, understanding, and growth. I understand that human experience is diverse and complex. Therefore, I offer a wide range of therapeutic modalities, including ACT, DBT, ERP, and aspects of movement, music, art, and play therapies. These creative approaches allow us to delve deep into your healing journey in a way that resonates with you. My trusty co-therapist, Dragon, is a yellow Labrador and my Seeing Eye dog. Dragon is known for his calm and playful nature, which makes him an incredible asset to our therapy sessions when appropriate. His presence often creates a soothing and comforting atmosphere for clients.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am a dedicated and compassionate social worker who believes in the transformative power of safe, healthy connections, creativity, play, humor, and the human-animal bond. My journey in social work is deeply rooted in my personal experiences and identity as a queer, South Asian individual born to immigrant parents who is a survivor of complex trauma. I embrace my own experiences with blindness and chronic conditions as sources of strength and empathy in my practice. I strongly believe in authenticity, and thus, use my own experiences, when appropriate, to guide and inform my practice. I firmly believe that you are in control of your therapy journey. We will work collaboratively to design a treatment plan that aligns with your unique needs and goals. If something isn't working for you, I am committed to finding alternative solutions to ensure your progress. I deeply believe that our bodies, minds, and brain naturally utilize tools like dissociation to survive the unimaginable.
